Bio:

I specialise in strengthening Muslim charities and community institutions through clear governance, ethical accountability and values-driven system design. With over 15 years of charity compliance experience, supporting mosques, maktabs, institutes, women’s centres and mental health services, I help organisations build transparent, resilient and trustworthy operations aligned with their spiritual mission.

Alongside my community work, I hold a senior role within the financial regulated sector, bringing extensive expertise in governance, risk and financial crime. This dual background enables me to translate complex regulatory standards into practical, accessible frameworks for Muslim charities.

At Modular Ummah, I lead the strategic vision and oversee our modular infrastructure and Silsilah Connect platform, coordinating a network of professional Muslim experts to support institutions with clarity, ihsān and long-term sustainability.

Shumi Ullah

Co-founder & Outreach Engagement Lead

Bio:

I’ve spent over 15 years supporting families, women and young people through community projects, masjid services and local initiatives. My journey includes serving as a Trustee at Becontree Heath Islamic Society, leading day-to-day community operations, and working over a decade at a Primary School supporting children with diverse learning and emotional needs.

I have also held leadership roles across grassroots projects, including serving as Head of Service for a female youth centre, where I focused on confidence-building, emotional wellbeing and creating safe, empowering spaces for young Muslim women. 

As a qualified therapeutic counsellor and long-standing Client Assessment Officer for the Muslim Counselling Service, I’ve help individuals access culturally grounded mental health support.

Alongside this, I am a podcast host and community speaker, using storytelling and dialogue to open up important conversations around faith, wellbeing, identity and community care.

At Modular Ummah, I lead outreach and engagement with compassion and deep listening, making sure our systems, services and spaces truly reflect the people they’re built to serve.
